I was born on August 14, 1965 to Martin and
Leila Rosenthal (née Caller). I grew up on Old Forest
Hill Road in Toronto and went to
Beth Tzedek Hebrew Day
School until the end
of grade 5. My folks divorced in 1974 when I was 9 years old and I went
to live with my mother. I spent grades 6 to 8 at Forest Hill Junior High and in 1979
moved on to Forest Hill Collegiate Institute where I studied through
the end of grade 10. In 1981, my Mother and I moved to Coral Springs, Florida and then to
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I went
to school for grades 11 and 12 at American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida where I graduated
in 1983. Six days after graduation, I moved back to Toronto to pursue a
working career at Electro Sonic – my family company. From 1995 to 1999
I was also involved with four other partners in operating Atlas Bar and Grill.
In 1993 I married my longtime girlfriend
Christine Webb and in September 2000, we had our first child James Harrison
Pierre. In January 2004, we had our second child, Alexander
Ethan. Essco the Killer Cat has also graced me with his presence
for many years.
I have one brother named Alan who is 3
years older than I am. He works for Microsoft and lives with his wife,
Janice, in Seattle, Washington. Both
my parents have remarried and live happy lives.
My hobbies include collecting wine and
watches, playing golf (badly) and ice hockey (I'm a goalie), listening to
music (Rush and Social Distortion, among others) and drinking Stolichnaya
vodka, Bowmore scotch, and Jagermeister straight from the bottle.
